GRASSO deeply and quickly soaks in, moisturizing and softening throughout the full thickness of the leather. Thus, it is an efficient way to help break-in new saddles, boots, baseball gloves, etc..
To break-in new leather: Apply thin coats (3 to 5 coats) over a period of about 2 weeks, letting it soak in as much as possible between coats.
When the underside of leather can also be accessed and treated, you can apply a coat of GRASSO to the underside as well. This will usually greatly accelerate the "breaking-in" process.
Notes:
- TENDERLY makes the top layer of the leather softer to the touch and is perfect to maintain the natural softness and suppleness for thin delicate porous leathers such as lambskin, pigskin, or calfskin. However, TENDERLY doesn't do much to help break-in thick stiff leather, and that is where GRASSO actually excels.
- The overuse of GRASSO can tip the scale and turn its advantages into problems. For example, if used every day over a period of many months, it could make the leather so soft as to lose hold and form.
- GRASSO is oil-based and can darken some leather (mostly porous leather such as lambskin).
